Coming Home to Nature

By Guillaume Vincent

Originally from France, I grew up in a country that celebrates passion, romance, good food, and good wine as a sign of healthy citizenship. In addition to this I grew up in a (on the surface) highly loving, caring, celebrative family which in reality was dysfunctional and operated according to their trauma. This trauma was passed down from one generation to the next including abuse, neglect, abandonment, and addictions, which culminated with the suicide of my mother. This was a turning point in my life. I could no longer tolerate dysfunction, it was too painful. I grew up feeling confused, isolated and in pain, thinking that my family and lifestyle was the right way to live while actually not at all. It took for me to leave France and move to the US to deeply start my healing process and recovery. It started with me totally changing my career from Mechanical engineering to Acupuncture and Holistic medicine, followed by energetics healing, family constellation, shadow work and men’s work, all the way to 12steps recovery. Years of bucketing my pain, my old story, the false messages and getting closer to the truth. It took a deep commitment to freedom, support from hundreds maybe thousands of men and women, countless hours of introspection and deep work to get where I am today. In the end it is my life, I am built around my healing and thanks to it can be the best version of myself, one day at a time.

We are born part of an interconnected system. Through trauma, family dysfunction, societal and cultural expectations and survival addictions, we isolate and loose track of who we are at our core as an individual, but also as part of a universal system = including space, nature, ancestors, family. Recovery has been for me about regaining access to our original design/blueprint, to connection to the environment, to our inner true self, to the healing trauma, and the delivery of our gift.

The integration of eastern philosophy, spirituality and integrative holistic healing, family/ancestral trauma, and shadow work to the 12 steps...I believe are key to long term recovery and living a life of fulfillment and mission.
